This listing is for a vintage German porcelain figural group depicting a courting couple at a piano by Franz Witter, c. The Victorian Era aristocrats are portrayed as avid musicians – the woman is a pianist, while the man plays violin. The musicians sit at a piano draped in ebony fabric, as the man leans in for a passionate kiss. You can almost hear the woman playing an enchanting song, as she gazes into the eyes of her handsome paramour. The ardor shared between the two lovers during this tender moment is almost palpable. This piece was exquisitely modeled and exudes realism. Affixed to a classical brass base, this hand-painted figural group also features green felt on the underside. Overall very good condition. The violin neck is missing; two damaged flowers. This very rare figure was produced by Franz Witter from the town of Brühl in North-Rhine Westphalia. This lesser-known and small porcelain decorating company produced fine Dresden lace figures. Measures approximately 9″H by 9.75″W by 6.25D. Please reach out with any questions, or reasonable offers.
