The design 381 was originally modelled in 1914 by Himmelstoss, and is one of a series of insect figurines that Karl created for Rosenthal. This beetle has the model number 381 embossed on the bottom with the Rosenthal stamp under the glaze, and is embossed with “Himmelstoss” on the side. 5 cm long x 4.5 cm wide. Condition : Very good condition, no scratches, fading or blemishes to paint or body of the beetle, however, a tiny piece of the tip of the leaf has broken off. Due to the way the figurine sits, this slight blemish is hard to see unless turned over. Please see the photos for details, and contact me in case of any questions. His work quickly gained recognition for its intricate detail, elegance, and technical proficiency. Many of the figures created by Karl for Rosenthal were and continue to be highly sought after internationally by collectors.
